Refinery heater and furnace coils
Tubing for fired heaters, crackers and reformers
Fired heater coils fail from the outside in: oxidation, sulphidic attack and carburisation long before pressure becomes the issue. Material selection climbs the chromium and nickel ladder with the tube metal temperature.

- Moderate temperature convection sections: A335 P11 / P12 / P22
- Sulphidic and naphthenic attack: A335 P5 or P9 (5Cr and 9Cr)
- High temperature radiant sections: A335 P91 or austenitic 310S / 321
- Steam reformer pigtails and outlet sections: Alloy 800HT
- Extreme duty and AUSC service: Alloy 617 and 740H

أسئلة يطرحها المشترون حول هذه الظروف.
P9 or P91 for a heater coil?
P9 is chosen for sulphidic corrosion resistance at moderate strength; P91 is chosen for creep strength and allows a thinner wall at high temperature. If the limiting factor is sulphur attack, go P9; if it is creep at 550 - 600 C, go P91.
Where does Alloy 800HT take over from stainless?
Above roughly 850 - 900 C metal temperature and in carburising atmospheres, where austenitic stainless loses creep strength and starts to carburise. 800HT holds creep strength and resists carburisation, which is why reformer pigtails and outlet manifolds use it.
